Fine dining has always been one of Boris Maskow's particular passions. According to the expert, an exceptional meal needs to go with a fine wine or a classy spirit. Therefore, he started early to engage himself with the fundamentals of wine and spirit expertise

Prior to his studies, Boris Maskow founded the online mail order “” and the wine consultancy “sparkling-online” which he continues to operate successfully. After he studied law in Bonn and Munster, the expert established a retail store in the Ruhr area in 2006, specialized on the trade of champagne, cognac and rare wines. In 2008, he was named chevalier of Ordre des Côteaux de Champagne and since 2009, he is a champagne ambassador for the champagne trade association CICV.

Boris Maskow is especially fascinated by the complexity as well as the largely underestimated fine aging potential of champagne and sparkling wine. Alongside champagne, he is passionate about exquisite cognac. The cellar master's highest requirement of his gustatory talent is the art of combination which delivers a unique character to a superb champagne or cognac.

In 2012, the expert began his training to become a cognac educator and was certified with the gold diploma of the cognac holding organization BNIC. He is always glad to discover young talented wine makers while lecturing at various wine schools or taking research trips to important wine-growing regions. Supporting the future generation of wine growers and assisting their market entry is of particular importance to him.

Boris Maskow now works as the expert wine auditor for the quality wine examination of the Chamber of Agriculture in Rhineland-Palatinate. He is a regular editor for “Captain Kork” and has already published numerous interviews and articles in trade journals, such as “Vinum” and “AGHZ – Allgemeine Hotel- und Gastronomiezeitung”. In 2014, Boris Maskow was named Officier des Ordre des Côteaux de Champagne.
