We would like to introduce you to Stephanie Pons, Auctionata expert in Contemporary Art & Photography as well as 19th & 20th century Photographs.
Stephanie Pons is a French independent specialist in photography focusing on works from the 19th and 20th centuries. She discovered her passion for her field of expertise at an early age, when she visited Musée d´Orsay as a young girl with her parents.
Only after a career in banking, the expert returned to her roots and decided to study Art History. In 1999 she qualified to enter the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, where she studied the History of Photography with Professor Michel Frizot, the author of the reference book Nouvelle Histoire de la Photographie (new history of photography).
Upon her graduation in 2004, Ms. Pons’ interest in the art market led her to the French auctioneer Millon & Associés, where she assisted the photography expert for four years in all aspects of the auction process. She actively participated in the appraisal and auction of the Brassaï Estate in 2006.
Since 2009 the Parisienne-of-choice works as an independent photo specialist and mainly advises auction houses as well as private collectors.
Her distinguished expertise includes a broad spectrum and ranges from early photographic processes and 19th century primitive photography over ethno-photography and the documentary style initiated by Walker Evans to the European photography of the modern period, photojournalism and fashion photography. She has a special interest for Japanese photographers of the Vivo and Provoke movement.
Stephanie Pons lives and works in Paris.
