We would like to introduce you to Salome Dorao, Auctionata expert in Spanish Contemporary & Modern Paintings as well as Paintings and Works on Paper.
Salome Dorao began to develop her passion for art while working as a restorer. She was interested in learning about the period the pieces were from and about their value. In 1997, Ms. Dorao started working at Sotheby’s London in several departments, dealing with items from different periods, styles and materials that needed to be valued.
After completing her academic training, a B.A. in History and Geography, Ancient History, Restoration of Paintings, and a Master's Degree in Design and Exhibition Project Management, Ms. Dorao worked at the Spanish National Archaeological Museum, Sotheby's London, the Contemporary Art Fair ARCO Madrid and the Art Fundacion Antonio Camuñas, performing many tasks related to valuation, research and the coordination of art exhibitions.
Since 2006, she has dedicated her expertise to Spanish Modern and Contemporary Art, advising on the purchase and sale of works of art, managing major national and international exhibitions, and being in continuous contact with important collectors and personalities in the art scene worldwide.
Ms. Dorao's favorite Spanish modern artist is Picasso, a genius who participated in many stylistic movements, while her favorite Spanish contemporary artist is Chillida, who focused on simplicity.
A drawing by Julio Romero de Torres, discovered at a client's home, a lighthouse in Algeria, is her best find.
Salome Dorao lives and works in Madrid.
