We would like to introduce you to Laurence Mitchell, Auctionata expert in Meissen Porcelain 18th - 20th C.

Laurence Mitchell is an expert in porcelain specializing in rare Meissen with over 35 years of international experience. Half growing up in his mother´s antique shop in London, he developed his passion for collecting at an early age.

It was in his twenties when he bought his first piece of rare Meissen and ever since he was fascinated. Therefore, he founded his own antique shop in 1975 that specialized in English, European and Oriental porcelain and Japanese works of art with the focus on Meissen.

The expert has visited both leading museums and private collections in London, Los Angeles, New York, Amsterdam and Sankt Petersburg to enlarge his comprehensive knowledge in porcelain from the famous German manufacture.

Laurence Mitchell has worked with all the major Meissen collections such as the Kathy Gilmeister Collection at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento or the priceless Roy Brynes collection, which was sold by Christie´s 2010. Most recently he worked as a consultant at HSBC High Net Worth Insurance Underwriting.

In 2005 the Antique Collector´s Club published his Meissen Collector´s Guide. The renowned reference work containing listings and illustrations of hundreds of the most popular Meissen pieces provides extensive information about different types of painting, glazing modelling and prizing. An updated edition is due to be published winter 2015

Laurence Mitchell lives and works in London.
