We would like to introduce you to Christina Japp, Auctionata expert in Contemporary Art as well as Art and Design 20th C.
Christina Japp is an expert in 20th Century Art & Design with more than 20 years’ international experience. Her passion for Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Post-War Design developed from an early age when she traveled extensively in Europe and particular to Paris. She was exposed to and intrigued by iconic German Design, especially Bauhaus, growing up in Hanover.
Christina is a New York-based expert with extensive experience in all aspects of 20th Century Art & Design and Contemporary Art. She has worked or consulted with all the major auction houses and in particular with Sotheby’s New York, where she worked for 12 years as specialist in the 20th Century Design department. While there, she discovered a particular interest in the work of Rembrandt and Carlo Bugatti and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Most recently, she held the position of Director of 20th Century Design with Heritage Auctions in Dallas.
She has negotiated the sale of a number of important collections in the field of 20th Century Design as well as Contemporary Art, both in the sphere of international auctions and private sales.
Christina recently co–authored a book on Carlo, Ettore and Rembrandt Bugatti entitled “The Art of Bugatti.” For the Mullin Museum in Oxnard, California, it is a glorious testament to French Design in the 20th century.
