We would like to introduce you to Wayra Schübel, Auctionata expert in Contemporary Art.
Being raised in Latin America, by a family who has always attached great importance to academic and cultural values, Wayra Schübel discovered her passion for art and culture at a young age.
During the late 1990ies, she lived in Leipzig and Berlin and successfully completed her studies in sinology, cultural studies and art history at the Free University of Berlin. Mrs Schübel was working as a translator and project manager in the field of IT for more than five years before she decided to pursue her personal interests professionally.
Due to this decision, the passion for art entered her life once again. She is working in the field of galleries and exhibitions ever since and feels at home at the international art fairs, be it in Basel, Barcelona or London.
It is here where the expert always finds new topics for her art blog ARTSALOON. She writes about selected art fairs, exhibitions and artistic positions. Her journalistic focus is on the market analysis and on marketing strategies of producers of contemporary art. Mrs Schübel has a strong instinct for the price developments of contemporary art due to constantly watching and analysing the international art market.
Together with the curator Gianni Hilgemann, Wayra Schübel is in charge of the LSD gallery in Berlin since October 2012. As a freelance curator and moderator, she is still engaged with her own projects and works for the association of Berlin artists in the public discourse program Art and Economy (2013), as well as from competition to cooperation (2014).
Wayra Schübel lives and works in Berlin.
