We would like to introduce you to Svetlana Kulesa, Auctionata expert in Baltic Art, Icons, Russian Art as well as Paintings and Works on Paper.
Svetlana Kulesa currently works as an independent art expert, cultural manager and online marketing manager. Since 2004, she has also taken on freelance roles, including the organisation of international exhibitions and as consulting on Russian art at the HypoKulturstiftung exhibition gallery in Munich.
Growing up in the multicultural Latvian capital Riga – the pearl of the Baltic and capital of art nouveau architecture – Ms. Kulesa developed a cosmopolitan personality and a fascination for art.
She studied cultural management at the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga; and art history, market and advertising psychology and economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. She progressed from this well-rounded yet focused academic background by training as an online marketing manager.
Next to her university degrees, she is now also able to draw on eight years of professional experience in art dealing, exhibition organisation, PR and marketing. Journalism and editorial work add two further strings to her bow. She acquired her early practical experience mainly through internships at Christie’s auction house and at the cultural office for the city of Rostock.
During many years working as an art expert for paintings, graphic arts, sculpture and icons at the Ursula Nusser auction house in Munich, Ms. Kulesa developed a deep understanding of the national and international art and antiques market, with a particular focus on 19th-century southern German art, Russian and Baltic art.
In February 2010, Ms. Kulesa began a full-time freelance career, and since then she has assisted renowned German art auctioneers, art and antiques dealers in the Russian and Baltic art and antiques markets. Her professional life allows her to fulfil her dream of bridging the gap between German, Russian and Baltic cultures through art.
Svetlana Kulesa lives and works in Munich.
