We would like to introduce you to Gerhard Große Löscher, Auctionata expert in Historic Weapons from 19th century as well as Medals & Uniforms.
The expert Gerhard Große Löscher has been collecting militaria and weapons since his youth. Even as a 15-year-old boy, he was gripped by collecting fever after buying spiked helmets for 5 DM. His first pieces also included a Brunswick cavalry officer's sabre, which is still in his collection today.
Since the 70's he has specialised in weapons and militaria from Hanover and Brunswick. His scholarly interest in the specific fields started during his degree in modern history in Göttingen.
After graduation, Gerhard Große Löscher completed a traineeship at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Kassel [Kassel state art collections]. During his traineeship, the expert carried out inventory tasks in all areas of militaria (bladed weapons, fire arms, uniforms, head gear, medals).
The traineeship was followed by numerous service contracts in the area of militaria, museum design and restoration tasks.
Since the early 1980's, Gerhard Große Löscher has taught various educational seminars at the educational institute of the Deutsche Angestellten-Gewerkschaft (DAG) [German Salaried Employees Union] and pursued an executive career at the German Federal Post Office. During his role at the post office, Gerhard Große Löscher worked part-time as a consultant for the department of arts and crafts and sculpture for the Staatliche Museen Kassel [State Museums of Kassel], and the friends' association "Freunde Schloss Friedrichstein [Castle Friedrichstein Affiliates]".
On behalf of the Hessische Denkmalamt [Hesse office of the protection of historical monuments], he carried out the inventory of the weapons collection of Schloss Erbach [Erbach Palace], together with Joachim Scheffler (also an Auctionata expert). Gerhard Große Löscher is a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Heereskunde [German Society for the History of the Armed Forces] and the Gesellschaft für Historische Waffen- und Kostümkunde [Society of historical weapons and costumes]. He has published in numerous journals about his areas of expertise.
Gerhard Große Löscher lives and works in Göttingen.
