We would like to introduce you to Dr.  Heide Rezepa-Zabel, Auctionata expert in Glass, Ceramics and Metalworks as well as Jugendstil, Art Déco and New Objectivity.

Dr. Heide Rezepa-Zabel studied art history and business administration in Kiel and Hamburg. She completed the Christie’s Education Programme in London and then became active in the auction and gallery business. Under the supervision of Professor Tilmann Buddensieg at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, she earned her doctorate with a thesis on ‘Das Deutsche Warenbuch’, which contains well over 3,000 items from the German art movement and was therefore supported as a research project by the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation.

Dr. Rezepa-Zabel is in close contact with the ‘Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge’ in Berlin. As a research fellow, she took on the research and documentation of this extensive collection in preparation for the large anniversary show ‘100 Jahre Deutscher Werkbund’ and structured it into themes. Today she offers workshops on selected themes and materials, acts as a consultant and holds a monthly discussion hour on the assessment and valuation of design-historical objects in the ‘Museum der Dinge’ exhibition rooms.

Since her studies, Dr. Rezepa-Zabel has united research work with the art trade. This combination has proved valuable both in terms of understanding design history and the valuation of objects of art.

She runs an expert-led trade centre and provides expertise and opinions as a freelance specialist. As an author for the collectors’ journal, she regularly publishes articles on themes from the fields of applied arts and industrial design. Her focus lies in the areas of ceramics, glass, metal, and old and new-generation plastics, especially from the art-historical eras of Jugendstil, Art Déco, New Objectivity and Post-war design.

Dr. Heide Rezepa-Zabel lives and works in Berlin.
