We would like to introduce you to Amer Abbas, Auctionata expert in contemporary Art.
Amer Abbas is originally from Baghdad and has lived in Austria since 1976. In Vienna he has studied film, philosophy, history of art, comparative linguistics and advertising and sales. He has also taken a course in museology.
Since the mid-80s, Amer Abbas has been working as a gallerist and independent curator. Over the last few years he has organised numerous group and solo exhibitions with international artists in galleries and museums. Alongside the demands of his exhibition work, his commitment to contemporary art has regularly taken him to many major art fairs and biennials.
Since 2008, the expert has been the lecturer for Transarts class at the Universität für freie Angewandte Kunst [University for Free Applied Art]. In this role he currently teaches classes in analysis of conceptual materials, and in sculpture, photography and aesthetics. The course is strongly geared towards the current artistic dynamic, and conveys the diversity of art and art theory in the present day.
In 2011 he founded the Wiener Art Foundation. As well as being a conveyer of contemporary art and art discourse, this art society operates as a hub for artists and is a hotbed of innovative concepts for the presentation of contemporary art.
Amer Abbas lives and works in Vienna.
