This lot comprises two bottles of 1999 vintage Riesling Spätlese. These are special bottles predominantly marketed via auctions and generally indicating a higher quality than normal wines. These wines are the rarest and best which the VDP vintners were able to produce in this vintage year, meaning only a small quantity is produced. This usually corresponds to a few cases and up to a maximum of 200-300 bottles for the entire world market.
The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.
Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate (2010): 94/100
Haag’s Brauneberger is blessed with breathtaking clarity on the nose, overtly neutral at first and then teasing glimpses of Kaffir lime, pink grapefruit, star fruit and white peach. The palate is elegant and rounded with subtle honey flavours, vibrant acidity cutting like a knife through butter, leading to a sensual apricot-tinged finish. Delectable.
Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (2001): 90/100
A solid '99 Mosel. Round, with a firm underlying structure and full peach flavor, on an crystalline, dense structure.
