    Additional Information & Condition

Jane Birkin is said to have describe her idea of the perfect weekend bag to Jean-Louis Dumas, the President of Hermès, in 1981. Three years later Hermès started to manufacture the status symbol with the typical trapeze-shape, but exclusively by order. The Birkin Bag is available in six different sizes and varied colors and leathers. Although it is sporty and less formal than the Kelly Bag, it embodies an absolute classic with eternal elegance, exclusivity and luxury.

The bag is in very good condition with only minimal traces of wear.

The company Hermès, based in Paris, was founded in 1837 by the saddler Thierry Hermès (1901-1878) as a business for riding accessories. Under Thierry's son, Charles-Émile Hermès, the product range was extended to cases and leather bags as of 1878. Handbags were introduced in the 1920s. Finally, in 1951, the company launched its first perfume. The high quality and durability of the Hermès products quickly became known throughout Europe. Today, Hermès is known worldwide for its high quality craftsmanship. (ala)
