The paint surface has darkened, showing craquelure and staining, consistent with age. The inspection under UV light reveals strokes of retouching throughout the depiction. The frame shows minor traces from use as welll as signs form an inactive woodworm infestation.
Antonio Travi (1608-1665)
Antonio Travi, born in Sestri Ponente near Genoa, trained with the painter Bernardo Strozzi and specialized in landscape painting. He received further influences from Flemish painting, from the German painter Goffredo Wals as well as from the school of Salerno. Antonino Travis's son was also a landscape painter.
