The painting is in good condition. Tiny craquelure can be seen and retouched spots are on the figure and in the part of the sky. There are rubbed spots due to the frame. The painting is surrounded by wooden strips. The frame shows usual signs of age and wear as well as small losses of material at the upper edge.

Domingo García y Díaz was a Spanish painter of the 19th century. García y Díaz studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. He worked as a painter in his hometown, Jérez de la Frontera, as well as in Madrid. The artist was guided by the spirit of the 19th century. His work presents portraits, religious motifs, history paintings, genre scenes and images of his Andalusian hometown. (msc)
