The painting is in good condition, consistent with the age, with tiny craquelure in some places and a scratch upper and lower right. Retouched spots can be seen overall under UV light but mainly on the figure. The frame is plastered with decorative paper, with partially loss of paper. The wooden frame shows usual signs of age and wear as well as little losses of material affecting the lower edge.
Enrico Maltese (1862–1920)
The Italian painter Enrico Maltese, born in the South of Sicily, went to Naples to study as a young man. After that he returned to his hometown Modica. The artist painted portraits, landscapes, townscapes and genre paintings. (msc)
