The lithograph bears short creases in the corners and a small pencil inscription by another hand. Otherwise the condition is good.
Horst Janssen (1929-1995)
His artistic talent already discovered in childhood, the native Oldenburg started to study at the Landeskunstschule in Hamburg in 1946. In 1951, he was expelled without graduating. During the following years he is busy with print techniques, such as lithography and etching, in addition to painting. He perfected his skills in the field of etching and left behind an extensive oeuvre with approximately 4000 sheets and 47 cycles. Janssen has received recognition for his work since the 1960s. In the following decades, his works were exhibited in Europe, the United States and Japan. Since 2000, the works of the artist are shown in changing exhibitions in the Horst-Janssen Museum of Oldenburg. (fea)
