We would like to introduce you to Bill Bridges, Auctionata Expert in British and American paintings, silver, and decorative arts.

Bill Bridges used to wander around the streets of Portobello Road antiques market in London looking for things to buy, and so his interest developed at an early age.

Mr. Bridges studied art history in the United States before launching his career as an antique dealer in the United Kingdom, where he developed an eye for the British Arts and Crafts movement, particularly items in silver and enamel.

He returned to the United States in 1995 to settle in Florida.  There, he discovered, among other treasures, an original Auguste Rodin watercolor, which had been wrongly attributed by a local appraiser as being a fake.  In fact, the painting turned out to be a genuine sketch painted by Rodin for his monumental sculpture, The Gates of Hell.  It was eventually sold at auction in New York.

Mr. Bridges worked for Chicago-based auction house Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, where he helped set up their first satellite office. He was not only responsible for appraising items brought in by clients, but also curating and cataloguing, as well as displaying lots for upcoming auctions.

He currently lives in Paris, where he works as an independent art consultant and advisor for collectors and dealers.
