We would like to introduce you to Dr. Elena Scharonkina-Wietek, Auctionata expert in Russian Avant-Garde and German Expressionism.
Born in Moscow, Dr. Elena Scharonkina-Wietek studied art history and fine arts as well as history of artistic technique and painting restoration at the Lomonossow University in Moscow.
The expert developed a fascination for German expressionism and Russian avant-garde, which made her write her diploma thesis about the Russian artists of the Munich group Der blaue Reiter.
She explored this subject more in depth in her dissertation about symbolism and expressionism in the creative period in Munich of Marianne von Werefkin.
Dr. Scharonkina-Wietek continued to do research projects for the Lomonossow University all over Europe in museums, archives and private collections, among others the Museo comunale d'arte moderna in Ascona, the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg and the national museums in Berlin.
The main focus of her research was on the Munich school Der blaue Reiter, as well as The Bridge, the Storm, the Jack of Diamonds (Bubnowyi walet) and the German and Soviet expressionism of the 1920s and 1960s.
Due to her long-standing research work, the expert possesses extensive knowledge about paintings, paper works and sculptures of Russian artists in Germany and German artists in Russia. She is a certified expert of the NEOXI committee (National Organization of Russian Art Experts) for German and Russian painting and art design of the 19th and 20th century.
Dr. Elena Scharoninka-Wietek lives and works in Munich and Moscow.
