We would like to introduce you to Ellen Callamari, Auctionata expert in Modern and Contemporary Art.
Ellen Callamari is a specialist and expert in the areas of Post-War and Contemporary Art. Her passion for art began in high school inspiring her to make multiple trips abroad to see art historical masterpieces in person. She followed her passion in college majoring in Art History beginning her career with internships with multiple New York dealers. Ellen holds a BA in both Art History and Spanish and an MA in Art History. She completed post-baccalaureate appraisal studies in fine arts at New York University.
She has over 10 years of contemporary art gallery experience having held senior positions in some of the top New York galleries which have cultivated the careers of artists who have shaped the face of contemporary art. These galleries include both Mary Boone Gallery and Andrea Rosen Gallery. In these positions she served as liaison between artists and collectors dealing in both primary market and secondary blue chip sales. She has a special interest in the work of the abstract expressionist, Richard Pousette-Dart having served as an advisor to the estate. Ellen assisted in the acquisition, sale and exhibition of the artist’s work and was also a key contributor to the monograph, Richard Pousette-Dart: The New York School and Beyond (Skira, 2005).
Callamari Fine Art was begun in 2000 advising numerous collectors on the development of their collections, assisting financial executives, global dignitaries and art world notables. With an understanding of market trends and fluctuations, Ellen's advisory services for acquisitions, as well as succinct timing in deaccessions, has been the key to managing clients' strong art portfolios. In addition to her advisory role, Ellen performs appraisals in her area of expertise and is USPAP certified. She is regular guest lecturer at Pratt Institute in New York.
