Deanna Farneti Cera is an accomplished author and expert in vintage jewellery, vintage fashion jewellery and bijoux de couture. She has authored numerous books on those subjects: Jewels of FantasyJewels of Miriam HaskellAmazing GemsBijoux, and Fashion Jewels Coppola e Toppo. Several of these have been translated into multiple languages.

After studying art, music and theatre at the University of Bologna, Mrs. Cera worked as curator and vice-director of the Modern Art Gallery of the city of Bologna.

In 1979, she travelled throughout the United States, England and France gathering artists for the exhibition “The Other Half of the Avant-Garde - Women in Art”, curated by Lea Vergine and sponsored by the city of Milan. 

In 1991, she curated and organised the exhibition “Jewels of Fantasy”, sponsored by the Daniel Swarovski Corporation and shown at the Museo Teatrale alla Scala in Milan, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Los Angeles County Museum, and other major European museums.  

In 1989, Mrs. Cera opened her renowned gallery, Ornamenti d’Autore, in Milan. She deals in fashion jewellery and bijoux de couture. Her speciality is attributing unsigned pieces to their creators. She is most passionate about unsigned Chanel, Schiaparelli, and 20th-century unsigned jewellery made in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and France.
