We would like to introduce you to Jelly Nijhof, Auctionata expert in Antique Lamps 1900 - 1970 as well as Antique Furniture, Decorative Arts & Sculpture.

Jelly Nijhof is an expert for antique lamps from 1900 to 1970. She is particularly interested in lamps of the Amsterdam School in the style of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, which were manufactured between 1900 and 1948 in the Netherlands, and sold all over the world. Lamps from these stylistic eras often have various coloured pieces of glass are used for the lamp shade, which gives a beautiful and soft light. Several examples can be admired at the "Touchinsky" cinema in Amsterdam.

Her passion started 35 years ago, with the purchase of her first lamp in the style of the Amsterdam School. The cleaning and restoration of this lamp was the basis for her longstanding passion for collecting. Jelly Nijhof regularly visits large trade fairs, where she was, and still is able to establish close contacts with manufacturers and traders. Decades of research and documentation of her discoveries, the intensive study of specialist literature and the newest publications enabled Jelly Nijhof to get a profound knowledge of this field.

Over the years she was able to build up a far reaching network with other experts and with numerous lamp factories. Particularly the intensive contact with the factories enables her to access valuable specialist information about designers and various types of lamps, which is beneficial to her as a collector and an expert. The expert has been able to develop a good feeling for the market value of lamps at various auctions and trade fairs and by observing sales for years. Jelly Nijhof enhances her expertise by participating at the annual collector’s trade fair “Jaarbeurs” in Utrecht for more than 20 years.

Jelly Nijhof lives and works in Katlijk.
