We would like to introduce you to Rainer Derx, Auctionata expert in Vintage Vespa Scooters, Technical Antiques & Classic Cars as well as Miscellaneous.
Rainer Derx is a typical Viennese guy of the 1980s, which means he has an almost natural relationship to Vespa scooters – the “hottest” thing at that time. This passion has never declined. For the past 15 years, he has intensely sought out and purchased rare items and acquired pieces for restoration. His collection of vehicles, most of which he restored himself, comprises up to 11 scooters.
Rainer Derx is a lover of details, permanently searching, and finding – and actually being an inventor – who implemented the full product lifecycle of his own business idea – a special mount for motorcycle plaques – from the planning stage to making it ready for the market. And this was accomplished just for the reason of saving these sacred scooters from the destructive forces of ice scraping tools and the like.
He is now considered to be a walking encyclopaedia of “small frame Vespas” produced between 1963 and 1982. After nearly 100 restorations, 15 years of visiting trade fairs in this sector in Italy and still riding scooters 365 days a year, it’s hard to give him any kind of information he doesn’t know yet. His enthusiasm is infectious, and Auctionata’s clients can now benefit from his love for details and his vast knowledge of antique Vespa scooters from the 1960s and 1970s.
Rainer Derx lives and works in Vienna.
