We would like to introduce you to Genevieve de Bernis, Auctionata expert in Southeast Asian Folk & Ethnic Art.
Genevieve de Bernis is an expert in Southeast Asian Folk & Ethnic Art, with a focus on silverware, textiles, antique jewellery, and lacquerware. She studied at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris and has worked with many well-known designers.
Having traveled extensively throughout Asia, Ms. de Bernis settled in Singapore in 1984 and established Mata-Hari Antiques three years later. For the last 25 years, Mata-Hari Antiques has showcased her private collection as well as the pieces she collected during her travels.
She has exhibited in numerous fairs in Singapore, such as the International Antiques, Arts and Crafts Exhibition, the “Batik” exhibition at the National Museum, and the Singapore Art Fair just to name a few. She has also provided most of the exhibits on view in the Regent Hotel Singapore, which spurred the creation of the book “Treasures of the Regent Singapore”. Over the years, Ms. de Bernis has published pieces from her collection in art books, and placed works of art in major private collections and museums in the United States, Japan, Korea, India and Spain.
