We would like to introduce you to Cole Harrell, Auctionata expert in Tribal Art and Oceanic Art.

Mr. Harrell is President of his eponymous tribal art advisory firm, which focuses on the arts of the Congo and Cote d'Ivoire. He conducts research, appraisals and advisory work for private clients, public institutions and Fortune 500 companies, such as Holloman Corporation. He has contributed to a wide range of art fairs including the San Francisco Tribal and Textile Show, THE(UN)FAIR, New York Tribal Art Week, and Paris Tribal. 

While Mr. Harrell is considered an expert on authentic African and Oceanic Art, his interests and expertise extend to Contemporary Art, Classical Chinese furniture. Additionally, Mr. Harrell catalogued the collection of Rita Fredricks-Salzman--wife of the late Herbert Salzman, President Jimmy Carter’s Ambassador to Paris. Her collection contained ancient Chinese ceramics as well as works by Picasso, Miró, Matisse and Chagall. 

In 2013, he served as nAscent Art NY's Executive Art Consultant. Prior to nAscent, he was named Artistic Director for the Joy Wai Gallery in Chelsea, which served as the New York introduction for many successful international artists, among them celebrated Chinese painter Wenzhi Zhang. 

A Texas native, Mr. Harrell first developed a serious passion for Sub-Saharan African art while studying ethnic theatre in University. He graduated from Texas State University with a BFA in Theatre, as well as Honors studies in cultural anthropology and art history, during which his thesis titled “I am Not Myself; a Selection of African Masks” served as the University’s first introduction to African Art since its founding in 1899.
