The paint surface shows minor craquelure and small scratches. There is a small paint loss to the upper margin. The inspection under UV light reveals major strokes of retouching to the upper margin. The reverse bears two patches.
Victor Bart (1887-1954)
Victor Bart studied painting, sculpture and architecture from 1906 to 1911. Since 1911 he visited the St. Petersburg Academy. In 1912 he worked at Vladimir Tatlin’s studio ‘The Tower’ along with Ljubov 'Popova, Nadežda Udal'cova et al.. From 1919 to 1936 he lived in Paris; then he settled down in Moscow.
