The canvas has been laid on cardboard. The paint surface is slightly discolored and retouched to the margins. The varnish has been renewed. The frame has slightly worn.
Paul Vorgang (1860-1927)
The German landscape painter Paul Vorgang was born in Berlin in 1860. He studied under Professor Eugen Bracht at the Berlin Academy. By 1886 he was already an assistant teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Charlottenburg. In 1896 Vorgang began teaching at the Academy for Landscape Painting and was appointed a professor later. The artist featured mainly landscapes in Berlin and the vicinity. Paintings by Vorgang can be found in the collection of the Nationalgalerie Berlin and in the City Art Museum in St. Louis, USA, amongst others. (cko)
