The painting is in good condition, consistent with age slightly discolored and with scattered tiny marks. The edges show little rubbed spots due to the frame. The frame shows usual signs of age and wear.
César Herrer (1868-1919)
The Spanish-Hungarian painter César Herrer was born in 1868 in Luarca/Asturias as son of the painter Joaquín María Herrer Rodríguez. Later he became Hungarian citizen. Herrer started his education under his farther followed by stays in Paris and Rome. In the mid-1890s he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Johann Caspar Herterich before he settled down in Hungary around the turn of the century. The artist mainly painted portraits, landscapes and genre paintings. An important group of works are his Venetian townscapes. (msc)
