The sheet is mounted on cardboard to the upper edge. The paper shows rubbing to the lower part. The lower right corner shows losses in the paper, which also affects the monogram. There are handwritten notes from a postcard on the reverse. The frame comes with slight traces from usage.
Mela Köhler (1885-1960)
Born in Vienna, Mela Köhler was trained at the art school Höhenberg and then studied at the School of Applied Arts under the guidance of Koloman Moser and Berthold Löffler. Afterwards, she worked as a freelance artist. Köhler designed postcards for the Wiener Werkstätte and numerous fashion illustrations. She worked for the magazine ‘Wiener Mode’ and illustrated storybooks for Konegen publisher. Around 1934, she emigrated to Sweden. Köhler was a member of the German and Austrian Werkbund. (cko)
