This pair of large, deep Majolika plates was produced in the well-known Hungarian porcelain and majolica manufactory Zsolnay. They display a slightly varied decor in a wonderful oriental, floral style. An angrily hissing and leaping male, respectively female lion is located in the centre of the artfully curved tendrils. Blue, green and pink dominate in front of a yellowish white background, while the majority of the motifs are outlined with gold.
The plates are in very good condition with usual craquelure and minimal manufacture flaws on the foot rim. The Pecs T.J.M. Zsolnay Famillie stamp and numbering are located on the underside. The diameter of each plate is 34 cm.
