The painting is in a good condition, consisten with the age, overall with tiny craquelure. There is a small hole in the sky and small spots with pigment loss and tiny marks close to the left frame. A few rubbed spots due to the frame are affecting corners and edges. Retouched spots can be mainly seen in the part of the tree in the front and the waterfall. The frame is in a good condition too with slight signs of age and wear.
Olaf Nordlien (1864-1929)
Olaf Nordlien was a Norwegian painter of the late 19th and the early 20th century. The artist painted mainly images of pure landscapes and seascapes. His oeuvre shows predominantly deserted mountain and tree sceneries: Nordlien painted landscapes with snow-covered mountains, clear lakes and thunderous waterfalls inspired by the great Scandinavian nature – now and again there are small houses which testify the existence of man. Basically the artists range of colors is guided by reality with variations concerning brighter and darker tones of his paintings. (msc)
