    Amphora-Werke (est. 1892)

The Amphora-Werke were founded under the name of Porcelain Manufactory Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel in 1892 by Alfred Stellmacher in Turn-Teplitz. It soon became popular with the unique shapes and glazes of its products. Since the late 1890s, the manufactory marked its objects with the word ‘Amphora’ and became known by that name. As Teplice was a part of Austria until 1918, the manufactory also used the mark ‘Amphora Austria’. The Amphora-Werke have received many international awards. The Bröhan Museum in Berlin owns a very nice collection of Amphora objects, especially vases and bowls. (cko)
