    Additional Information & Condition

Giovanni Stanchi preferably painted still lifes. He likes to combine the arrangements of a hunting still life with opulent flower bouquets and various fruits, which he further designs with a landscape view. In addition, he was able to represent the materiality of objects in a particularly realistic way.

    Condition:
The painting is in good overall condition. The canvas is relined. Occasionally retouching visible under UV light. In the area of the sky faint abrasions with slight loss of color and minor craquelure. Otherwise generally of good impression.

    Giovanni Stanchi (1608-1673)
Giovanni Stanchi comes from a famous Italian family of painters, whose works today are found in prestigious collections such as the Borghese's or the Medici's. There is not much documentation about his education. He attended the Accademiea di San Luca and worked for the family Barberini. He further collaborated with his brothers Niccolo and Angelo. Stanchi mainly painted still lives with flowers and fruits.
