Lisa Ramaci grew up in a household full of antiques, so her love of fine objects has developed over a lifetime. Having realised early on that she wanted to make antiques an integral part of her life, she studied history, fine and decorative arts at college in Heidelberg, Germany, and London, England. She then worked in a number of fine art and print galleries.

In the 1980s, Ms. Ramaci began collecting based on her own interests, focusing on American furniture, decorative arts and folk art of the 18^th, 19^th and early 20^th centuries. She spent five years working at Sotheby's in the American Furniture and Folk Art department, where she played a significant role in acquiring and presenting a number of landmark Americana sales. These included collections belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jeffords, Mr. and Mrs. Lammot Dupont Copeland, and Richard and Joy Kanter; selections from Israel Sack; the William Guthman sale of early American militaria; and the American folk art collection of Sandy and Julie Palley.

She went on to work for a regional auction house specialising in Americana, where she broadened her knowledge of antiques and expanded her areas of expertise to include European and Asian fine and decorative arts.

Her years in the industry have trained her in all aspects of acquiring, researching, authenticating and cataloguing property, and have furnished her with reliable and valuable appraisal techniques.
